Meet Adrian Garcia: Software Engineer at Kira

We’re excited to welcome Adrian Garcia to Kira Learning. He brings hands-on engineering experience and a fresh academic focus in Big Data. In this Q&A, you’ll learn what motivates Adrian, why Kira’s mission clicked for him, and how he plans to help educators personalize learning at scale.

Q: Tell us a bit about your background. What brought you to Kira, and why did this opportunity resonate with you?

Adrian: I’m a Software Engineer with over five years of experience building solutions that improve efficiency, optimize costs, and connect cross-domain services. As AI took off, I returned to school for a master’s in Computer Science with a specialization in Big Data Systems.

Kira stood out because it doesn’t just teach AI. It uses AI to help teachers create personalized learning paths for students. That blend of technology and real classroom impact is exactly where I want to be.

Q: What are you most excited about as you start your journey here?

Adrian: Building AI tools that genuinely save teachers time while tailoring support for every student. In the past, that level of personalization took a huge amount of effort and couldn’t scale. I’m excited to help make it practical and accessible in everyday classrooms.

Q: How do you see your role contributing to Kira’s mission of transforming education through AI?

Adrian: My background in cross-domain services and Big Data systems is a good fit for Kira’s platform. These tools need to process large volumes of data reliably. I’m here to help design and build data-intensive architectures that power new AI capabilities, so teachers get timely insights and students get support when they need it.

Q: What’s something interesting or unique about you that your new colleagues might be surprised to learn?

Adrian: My sister and I grew up with a small menagerie: dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, parrots, rabbits, and turtles. My grandparents also had a farm, so we spent time around horses, pigs, and cows. It made for a lively childhood.

Q: When you’re not working, what do you love doing? Any hobbies, interests, or passion projects?

Adrian: I like supporting local productions in San Francisco and am often at the Playhouse near Union Square or the Orpheum on Market Street. There’s an energy in live performance that you just can’t get from a movie.

Welcome to Kira, Adrian! We’re thrilled you’re here and can’t wait to see how your engineering and data expertise help teachers personalize learning for every student.
