Camp Kira | Middle School

Thursdays, May 29th - June 26th, 2025 | 1 - 2pm CT/2 - 3pm ET

If you’re new to teaching computer science or just beginning your journey teaching with Kira Learning, you’re invited to join us for Camp Kira, a virtual professional development series. Camp Kira is a multi-week experience that allows teachers - our campers - to work through a CS course asynchronously as a student, supported by weekly, live,  1-hour content sessions on Zoom led by Kira Team Members (your ‘Camp Counselors’!).

Participants will get the student experience while mastering content knowledge, learning CS pedagogy, and gaining comfort with the Kira Platform. You will also be supported by Kira’s embedded AI Tutor in your learning! The primary goal for each of these sessions is to prepare to successfully teach Kira’s Middle or High School foundational CS course.

Preview: Kira's New Coding Finch Robots Course

Thursday, April 24th, 2025, 3:30-4:30pm CT | 4:30-5:30pm ET

In this session, we’ll explore the course outline for this new course, where students learn to create code that controls the behavior of Finch Robots. We’ll see how the Finch Robot responds to students’ code commands! This course can be offered to MS students after they take our Intro to Computational Thinking course (or equivalent), or to HS students after a beginning Python course.
