At Kira, we believe the magic happens when passionate people come together to build something bigger than themselves. In this employee spotlight, we sat down with our newest team member, Lindsay Rothfeld , to learn about her background, her excitement for the journey ahead, and what fuels her passion for education, community, and—yes—Survivor.

Kira: Let’s start from the beginning. What brought you to Kira, and why did this opportunity resonate with you?

Lindsay: I’ve made a career of building spaces where people can teach, learn, and create together. I started more on the content and editorial side of things, but eventually found my way—somewhat magically—into edtech.

I spent seven years growing community programs at Flocabulary and Nearpod, two tools focused on K–12 learning. After that, I took a quick detour into the more traditional SaaS world at DocuSign. But throughout all those roles, the thread that tied it all together was the same: empowering and championing users through authentic, energizing experiences.

Kira felt like a natural next step. It sits right at the intersection of the things I care most about— technology-fueled innovation, personalized learning, and supporting educators. The mission instantly clicked for me. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of it.

Kira: What are you most excited about as you dive into your journey with Kira?

Lindsay: Honestly? The sheer possibility. There’s so much energy and potential in the space where education meets AI. I’m incredibly excited to see how educators are creatively embedding AI into their teaching and to help amplify those efforts through Kira.

One of the biggest green flags for me in joining was seeing how seriously Kira takes Community—not as a side project or a “nice-to-have,” but as a true engine of growth. Everyone here deeply values the insights and advocacy that come from our users. That’s rare, and it’s powerful.

So yeah, I’m beyond ready to geek out with educators and lift up their stories in every way I can.

Kira: Can you share something fun or unexpected about yourself that your new colleagues might be surprised to learn?

Lindsay: Oh, I’m a very committed fan of strategic reality shows—Survivor, Big Brother, The Traitors... you name it. And I don’t just casually watch them. I listen to gameplay podcasts, join fantasy leagues, attend live watch parties... it’s a whole lifestyle at this point.

As for whether I’d survive on the island myself? I like to think I’d bring strong alliance-building and community vibes to the tribe—but I’m under no illusion. I wouldn’t last 26 days without a proper meal or a good night’s sleep!

Kira: How do you see your role supporting Kira’s mission of transforming education through AI?

Lindsay: Technology by itself won’t change classrooms—people will. That’s where Community comes in.

AI is evolving so fast, and educators are finding wildly different, creative ways to use it. My role is to make sure those voices are heard and celebrated. I want our Community to be a living, breathing space where ideas flow, feedback helps shape the roadmap, and teachers get the spotlight they deserve.

When we do that, we don’t just support educators—we grow with them. That’s the kind of transformation that lasts.

Kira: Outside of work, what brings you joy? Any hobbies or passion projects you’re into?

Lindsay: Professionally, I build community. And personally, I seek it.

Since 2019, I’ve been part of AfterWork Theater, a NYC-based community performance group. We come from all sorts of day jobs and experience levels, but we’re united by our shared love of performing. I’ve been in over ten productions—from full-blown musicals to dance revues. Most recently, I played Frau Blücher in Young Frankenstein, which was a blast.

And if there’s a karaoke mic nearby? Count me in. Always.

Welcome to the Kira team, Lindsay! We’re so lucky to have your passion, creativity, and community magic in the mix.
