Welcome Laura Hincapié, General Manager, Latin America

We’re excited to welcome Laura Hincapié, General Manager, Latin America, to Kira. Laura brings a rare mix of public sector leadership, regional strategy experience, and a deep commitment to expanding educational opportunity. Get to know her in this quick Q&A.
Tell us a bit about your background—what brought you to Kira, and why did this opportunity resonate with you?
I’m Colombian, based in Bogotá, and an economist with a master’s in international development. I spent about a decade in the Colombian government working on program evaluation, the National Development Plan, and the targeting of social programs. More recently, I spent three years at McKinsey’s social and public sector practice, leading strategy and implementation projects across education, health, and economic development in Latin America.
What brought me to Kira is the opportunity to work at the intersection of education, government, and strategy that I care most about. It gives me the chance to drive real impact in the region at a scale I haven’t had before.
What are you most excited about as you start your journey here?
I’m most excited about being on the ground in El Salvador, understanding how the government works, talking to teachers and school principals, and seeing firsthand how Kira lands in real classrooms and what it means for students.
What’s something interesting or unique about yourself that your new colleagues might be surprised to learn?
I played violin for ten years and at one point considered becoming a professional musician.
How do you see your role contributing to Kira’s mission of transforming education through AI?
I believe that deploying Kira’s platform in countries like El Salvador can make education more accessible, personalized, and engaging for students who might otherwise fall through the cracks. It can also strengthen the role of teachers by giving them better tools to support their students.
When you’re not working, what do you love doing? Any hobbies, interests, or passion projects you’d like to share?
I love reading nonfiction, and I’ve recently gotten into tennis after years of running. I also enjoy baking, trying new restaurants, and going to the movies.
We’re thrilled to have Laura on the team and excited for the perspective she brings as Kira grows across Latin America. Her experience across government, strategy, and social impact will be invaluable as we work to expand access to thoughtful, effective AI-powered learning in the region.
