Q&A with Shauna

Tell us a bit about your background - what brought you to Kira, and why did this opportunity resonate with you?

I started my career as a classroom teacher in NYC Public Schools before transitioning into EdTech nearly 20 years ago. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with organizations like Amplify, Schoology, BrainPOP, and Wayground (formerly Quizizz)—all companies I deeply admire for their impact on students and educators.

I’m thrilled to bring my experience to building strong, high-performing customer-facing teams that drive meaningful impact, so more students and educators can benefit from what Kira has to offer. Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to solving real problems for schools and districts in ways that tie directly to student outcomes. What excites me most about Kira is the product itself. It represents the best of what’s possible when education and AI come together thoughtfully. Education is at a critical moment, and I believe what Kira is building has the potential to genuinely shape the future.

What are you most excited about as you start your journey here?

I’m most excited to partner with educators and district leaders to translate Kira’s capabilities into everyday wins—time saved, clearer feedback, and better learning experiences for students. I’m also energized to learn from an incredible team and to scale systems that help schools realize value quickly and sustainably.

How do you see your role contributing to Kira’s mission of transforming education through AI?

My role is to ensure that Kira’s promise shows up in classrooms. That means leading a Customer Success organization that listens closely, sets clear success metrics, and turns educator feedback into actionable improvements. By focusing on adoption, trust, and measurable outcomes, I want Kira to feel like a true instructional partner—not another tool to manage.

What’s something interesting or unique about yourself that your new colleagues might be surprised to learn?

I’m really into refinishing and refurbishing reclaimed furniture. I have no problem grabbing a dresser from the side of the road, hauling it home, and giving it a new life.

When you’re not working, what do you love doing? Any hobbies, interests, or passion projects you’d like to share?

I love the outdoors—skiing, hiking, and camping. I also love hosting dinner parties and I’m an insatiable reader. I have three awesome kids and love to explore and travel with them as much as possible.

We’re thrilled to have Shauna leading Customer Success. If your district is exploring practical ways to bring AI into teaching and learning, Shauna and the team are ready to help you get started and see impact fast.
